I have now been tagged by Laura and Cassie. And since I am home for the Thanksgiving Holidays I am going to see if I can do this. So far, Dan has done it all. So, 6 things about me. I am sure you would find more interesting things if you were to ask my children...but here goes:
I love pink!! Just seeing pink makes me happy. I love to dress in pink, decorate in pink, sleep in pink. If there is someway to get pink into all aspects of my life...I will find it. And pink just goes so naturally with bows, lace, flowers, hearts, ribbons, lipsticks...anything!! To me, PINK is so neutral...it goes with everything!! This picture is of a Mimosa tree in my back yard and the flowers on it are pretty in pink! I also have pink hibiscus' and pink crepe myrtles!!

Twice Tagged
I pretty much hate ALL bugs. I don't like them in my house or by me. I will not post a picture of the ones I hate because there are too many of them!! I feel bad sometimes that I hate bugs because they were created by Jesus. But, they are just yucky and creepy and scary! I have far too many stories to share about my encounters with bugs as well. None of them are happy stories...I have had MANY bad experiences...I will leave it at that!
The Gospel of Jesus Christ has been the reason for everything good in my life!! I know this because I see evidence of it everyday! The Gospel has provided the way for me to have an eternal family which just keep growing and growing. I found my husband in my Sunday School class....he was my teacher!! There is no end to my gratitude that Heavenly Father brought the Gospel into my life. I can get pretty preachy on this so I will stop. If you ever want to know the whole story, I will be happy to tell you!!
Two of my most favorite things are Sunrises and Sunsets. I take them very personally because I love and appreciate them so much. I thank my Father in Heaven for each and every one of them because I know that He knows how much I love them so I believe He creates special ones for me daily!! And you can never see them so awesomely as you can in Texas. With a 360 degrees sky it is so amazing! How can anyone not believe in God when He makes so many beautiful things for us every day of our lives??
One of my favorite things to do is go to a fun movie and eat popcorn for dinner! I am very easy to please when it comes to movies. I just do not like scary ones or inappropriate ones. I always enjoy the movie the second time around because there are no surprises and I am not nearly as worried about everyone in the movie. I feel I can say my favorite movies is: Pride and Prejudice (any and all versions). However....if it is a "chick flick"....bring it on!!!
I have many things which just make me happy other than the ones above:
Calls from my kids, time with my husband, breezy days, big blue skies, rainbows, babies, friends, chocolate...especially dark. Rain, especially at night so I can either go to sleep listening to it or curl up with a wonderful book and just read to my heart's content. The Scriptures make me happy because they are a witness to me that I am loved. I loves hugs and kisses, and smiles and laughter. I love sitting around with my family and just looking at their faces and seeing them happy. I am a MOM ... what more could I ever ask for?????? Oh, that is right....GRANDCHILDREN!!!!!!
So, now that I know how to do this, I believe I will do it more often and put lots of very fun pictures on our blog!!Posted by Karen Nelson at 1:57 PM 6 comments

ALL SMALL FISH BEWARE!!
FISH Tremble When We Come Near...
The day was almost perfect! The air was clear and crisp. Morning mist was wafting over the grass and the water with the sun just peeking up over the eastern horizon. We were hoping to be the first ones at our fishing hole, the ones to bring breakfast to the fish, breakfast with a hook! We were a little bit disappointed to find our fishing hole was the gathering spot for some big overnight Boy Scout event. There were scouts and tents all around the fishing pond. Fortunately, none of the scouts seemed interested in fishing. And, as you can see from the glass-like smoothness of the water, none of the scouts seemed inclined to disturb any fishing opportunities by throwing rocks in the water.
We picked a strategic point for our attack and commenced to taunt and tempt the fish. "Here fishy fishy fishy! We have fat and juicy Canadian nightcrawlers for you."
After a brief set up and time to get ourselves oriented, the contest of wits and skill began.
At first the fish were winning. They managed to pluck quite a few worms from our hooks before we finally got down to business.
It wasn't too long before we all had a little bit of action. Of course, none of the fish were any bigger than half a hand, but we had a good time.

First attempt at Blogging
Well here we go. We don't know what we're doing, but we'll learn as we go.
We hope we'll have some interesting things to post every now and then. Our most interesting stuff comes from outside our home, from our family away from home. We mostly just go to work and to school.
The beaches of Galveston are not too far from us and beaches and waves are calm and peaceful if you're not having a hurricane. This year we haven't had any of those (yet).
This week has been busy with school and work (oh, wait, I already said that's what we do mostly). But, the weather has been really nice these last couple of days (kind of like this picture from earlier this year...no it's not a recent one). It's quite a bit cooler here, but we aren't getting any snow or freezing temperatures like some people we know of in Utah or Ohio. Dan has said he's going to take Zach and Chase fishing at Challenger Park (that's where this picture was taken earlier this year...you can tell because Charlissa is in the picture and she's in Utah with Cassie and Jonny right now) on Saturday and terrorize the little perch, catfish, and old shoes at the bottom of the pond in the park. If we catch anything worth mentioning, or if we even get any bites from anything other than mosquitos, we might post it here just so we can get something fun going.
