A Perfect Day at the Temple

Dan took the day off and I was on Spring Break and we went to the Temple together. We had a really nice time and enjoyed the entire day.

As you can see March in Texas is absolutely gorgeous! The Temple grounds were very beautiful and we just had to get some pictures to post so everyone can be a bit jealous of our lovely weather. Of course, in a month or so when it is 100 degrees with about the same humidity, we will not be so prideful.

A sister missionary came up and offered to take our pictures...bless her heart. Aren't we just adorable?? What a huge blessing my husband has been in my life and I am so lucky and grateful to have him with me nearly 30 years now. I pray we have 30 more at least on this earth together!

And how I love this Temple! What a day it was when President Hickley came and dedicated it and we were sitting in the large sealing room where Cassie and Jonny were sealed. So many wonderful things have happened here.

This last picture Dan had to take because he wanted a beautiful girl in with the beautiful cherry blossom buds. Told you he is wonderful!!!

Wisdom Gone

Poor Zach....today at 2pm he had his wisdom teeth cut/pulled out. Yes, all 4 at the same time. He is doing good so far.

He is taking it easy and doing what Dr. Karen says. He is already drinking jello water, milk and eating chocolate pudding. Nothing harder or stronger for today though.

We devised a wonderful ice bag for both sides of his face. The recipe is: I put ice in a ziploc baggie and then put it in another ziploc baggie so it will not leak. Do this twice and stuff each baggie into a sock. Tie the socks off at the top and then TaDa...you have an icebag that fits perfectly. Creativity is awesome. The socks are clean and smell April Fresh too!! : )

Overreaction? Not me.

FYI...you will witness a range of emotions in this video. This was taken when Cassie called to let us know she was pregnant. The video camera's battery died and this was all we got. Let me just add one more sentence.....ZACH IS A PILL!!!

Peculiar Zach???

Books, Books and MORE Books!!

Last Saturday, WE decided to get rid of some of our books. We just LOVE to read...well, some of us and we have a library full of books in our home. These books are stuffed in bookshelves, closets, under beds, in cabinets....you get the picture....lurking everywhere!

So, in my quest to organize my home from the past 22 years, I asked Dan, Zach and Chase to bring me all the books they could find. As you can tell they did exactly that and I began the long process of trying to decide which to keep and which to give away. It was very hard because some of the books have some of my best friends inside.

The books behind me off of my right side are marked for being taken to the Half-Price Books Store. We had two more stacks of the same size that we ended up taking to the store. About half of our books we took to the store will be dontated because they were not worthy of payment. That is sad....

However, we did get $65 back from the other ones they decided to keep and stock their shelves with. Dan has the money and I have a less book crammed house! We all win on this one.

At one time during the book round up, Chase asked me why I was putting the books off to the side and I told him that we were going to get rid of these books. He looked at the stack and said I thought you just looked at a book and said, Oh, I love this book. I told him that I did and he then wanted to know why I would get rid of the book. I explained that since there were so many good books I had more than I could ever read in this life to still try and read. He could not understand parting with your favs. He has all his favs on his bookshelf headboard and re-reads them all the time.

In all honestly, I do still have some of my favs.....Twilight, Breaking Dawn and Eclipse still have a place in my heart and on my bookshelf.

The Lost Questions

Here is Part 2, because somehow I lost half of what I was typing out when I hit the post button. I am sure it is impossible to loose it...but I really did.

Now for the rest of the story...

Who does the dishes?
Our dishwasher. Except for the Pampered Chef items.

Who sleeps on the right?
Dan sleeps on my right except for when I am sleeping on my stomach...which is most of the time.

Who pays the bills?
Dan again. I did a long time ag0 but decided to give that back to Dan. He likes to be on top of it.

Who mows the lawn?
The men in the family. Mostly the boys but Dan helps out too. I just try to get him not to do it when it is too hot here.

Who cooks dinner?
Usually these days, Dan does. I did for the first 25 years but now he likes to do it. He is very creative with his dinners too! The things he can do with spices!

Who drives when you are together?
Mostly Dan, but I drive also.

Who is more stubborn?
Hands down...Me!!

Who kissed whom first?
Dan kissed me first, and second and third and etc.

Who asked who out first?
Once again, Dan did . I am an old fashioned girl and expect the guy to be the guy and do the guy things! However, he did not have to worry if I would say yes or not because I flirted shamefully with him.

Who proposed?
Dan did....over the phone. He was in California and I was in Texas.

Who has more siblings?
Dan has 5 and I have 3.

OK...well, as Charlissa seems to always say now....That's All.

Love Questions

A month late...but I want to answer the Valentines questions.

What is your husband's name?
Dan

How long have you been together?
We have been together for 32 1/2 years. 2 1/2 of those were dating years. It is very difficult to be married for nearly 30 years when you are only 29 yourself!!

Who eats more?
It's a toss up....depends on what the food is.

Who said I love you first?
Dan did. And he said it second and third and.... It took me a while to say it because I was young and scared.

Who is taller?
I am NOW. But I promise you he was when we were dating. And in the celestial kingdom, he will be again!!

Who has more speeding tickets?
This is funny. Speeding tickets were not even invented until my husband started cruising!

Who is smarter?
When it comes to people...I am. Everything else...Dan is! He is not called IKIA in our home for nothing. Oh, for those of you who do not know IKIA stands for I Know It All.

Who is more sensitive?
Let me put it this way, who cries when they are happy, when they are sad, when they are mad, during movies, during commercials, when looking at a beautiful sunset? Dan, of course....not really. I am very over sensitive! My dad used to tell me that I wore my feelings right behind my eyeballs because I cried about so many things.

When there is a fight, who actually wins?
If I don't win, I pretend like I did because I FEEL like I did. If I don't FEEL like I have won....wo unto my poor husband! Enough said.

Who does the laundry?
Everyone. I taught my kids how to do laundry at about 8 years old.

New Rule in our Home

I have been waiting to blog until I had some fun pictures to put in the blog. But, I have noticed that some of y'all are blogging without pictures. So...let me tell you about my early morning!
I got up at 5am and went straight way to the bathroom to take a bath. I had to wash my hair. I turned the water on and felt it. It felt fine...at the time. I had filled the tub with about two inches of water before I felt the temperature again. It was COLD. So, I turned off the cold water to get whatever was left of the warm water. After about another inch of water, it was COLD. I had to bathe!! So, I got into 3 inches of COLD water shivered through my bath and hair washing!
When I got out, I did some investigating and found out that Chase had taken a shower already this morning!! BAD NEWS ALWAYS. He takes showers for about half an hour. I think he stays in until the warm water runs out personally!!!
Well, that is what happened......CHASE USED ALL THE HOT WATER AGAIN...HE EVEN USED THE WARM WATER...AND THE COOL WATER. I was left with the FRIGID water.
New rule in our home...Chase is to shower at night before he goes to bed....never in the mornings.
Just had to share!! Anyone else have to deal with this???
